1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

A) Information you provide directly

Countist App (app.countist.app)

  • Account identifiers: email address, name, profile photo (via Google sign-in if you choose) for account creation, authentication, and personalization

  • Subscription data (user-entered): service names, costs, billing dates, categories, notes for core functionality

  • User preferences: dismissed alerts, custom categories, theme settings, notification preferences for personalization

  • Payment information: payment method details are processed by Stripe for subscription billing

    • We do not intentionally store full payment card numbers on our servers.

Contact and inquiries (if you contact us)

If you email us or contact us through any channel, you may provide:

  • Name, email address, phone number (if provided), message content, and any information you choose to include

B) Information collected automatically (all Services)

When you visit or interact with the Services, we (and service providers we use) may automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information (for example: browser type, operating system)

  • Approximate location (generally inferred from IP address)

  • Pages viewed and interactions (for example: navigation, clicks, time on page)

  • Referrer information and campaign parameters (for example: UTM parameters)

  • Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies used for functionality, analytics, and marketing measurement (see Section 9)

C) Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect bank account credentials, bank transaction histories, or financial account data beyond what you manually enter into Countist.

  • We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information unless you voluntarily include it in a message or form submission.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Services

  • Authenticate users securely (Countist App)

  • Process subscription payments (Countist App)

  • Provide in-app notifications and service messages (Countist App)

  • Respond to support requests and inquiries

  • Improve our Services based on aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized usage patterns where practical

  • Measure site and product engagement (analytics)

  • Understand marketing effectiveness and conversion attribution (for example: tracking outcomes related to LinkedIn content and ads; and potentially Google Ads in the future)

  • Protect against fraud, abuse, and security risks

  • Comply with legal obligations (for example: billing and tax record retention)

We will not:

  • Sell your personal information for money

  • Share your Countist subscription contents with other users

  • Use your Countist subscription contents for cross-user profiling or cross-user analysis

3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We use the following service providers. The data shared is limited to what is necessary for the Services to function.

Countist App (app.countist.app)

  • Clerk: authentication (for example: email, name, profile photo; session tokens)

  • Stripe: payment processing and subscription billing

  • Knock: in-app notifications (for example: user ID and notification preferences)

  • Mailchimp: email delivery and marketing automation (for example: email address and subscription status tags)

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4): analytics and engagement measurement (see Section 4)

Countist Site (countist.app), FYLUM (fylum.agency), MTB Price Agent (mtbprice.com)

LinkedIn (planned / may use)

  • LinkedIn Insight Tag: marketing measurement and conversion attribution (see Section 4)

4. ANALYTICS, ATTRIBUTION, AND MARKETING MEASUREMENT

A) Google Analytics (GA4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our websites and to improve performance and content. GA4 may collect information such as pages viewed, interactions, device/browser details, approximate location (derived from IP), and referrer/campaign parameters. GA4 may use cookies or similar technologies for measurement.

B) LinkedIn Insight Tag (may use)

We may use the LinkedIn Insight Tag to measure the effectiveness of LinkedIn content and advertising and to understand whether actions taken on our sites (for example: account sign-ups, purchases, or inquiries) relate to LinkedIn campaigns. This may involve cookies or similar technologies where permitted.

C) Google Ads (may use in the future)

We may enable Google Ads conversion tracking and related measurement features in the future to understand ad performance and attribution. If enabled, these tools may use cookies or similar technologies, subject to applicable consent requirements.

D) User-provided data for measurement (hashed matching)

In connection with certain measurement features, we may use configurations that send hashed versions of user-provided identifiers (such as an email address) to measurement partners to improve attribution and reporting accuracy.

Important notes:

  • Hashing is intended as a one-way transform and is not meant to transmit plain-text identifiers.

  • We will only use this approach where relevant to conversion measurement and permitted by law.

  • Where required, we will obtain consent before enabling or using these features.

5. DATA RETENTION

Retention depends on the type of data:

  • Account data (Countist App): until you delete your account, subject to limited exceptions for legal compliance and security

  • Subscription data (Countist App): until you delete your account

  • Authentication/session data (Countist App): retained as needed for security and account access

  • Billing records: retained as required by law (often up to 7 years, depending on jurisdiction)

  • Analytics data: retained according to platform settings and business needs; may be aggregated or de-identified over time

  • Deleted accounts: we delete or de-identify personal data within a reasonable period after deletion, except where retention is required by law or necessary for fraud prevention and security

6. DATA SECURITY

We protect data using reasonable safeguards, including:

  • TLS encryption in transit

  • Encryption at rest where supported by our platforms/providers

  • Secure authentication via Clerk (Countist App)

  • PCI-compliant payment processing via Stripe

No internet transmission is 100% secure. While we implement safeguards, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. YOUR RIGHTS

You may have the right to:

  • Access your data (Countist App: export features if available)

  • Correct inaccurate data (Countist App: edit features in-app)

  • Delete your account and associated data (Countist App: settings)

  • Opt out of marketing communications (unsubscribe links or preference controls)

8. CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have rights including:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect and why

  • Right to delete personal information (subject to exceptions)

  • Right to correct inaccurate information

  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising (as defined by law)

  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising unless and until such advertising features are enabled; if they are enabled, we will provide applicable controls where required.

9. EUROPEAN/UK RESIDENTS (GDPR/UK GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing may include:

  • Contractual necessity: to provide services you request (for example, paid Countist functionality)

  • Legitimate interests: to improve our Services, measure performance, and prevent fraud

  • Consent: for certain cookies and marketing measurement/advertising features where required

  • Legal obligation: to maintain billing records as required by law

Your data may be transferred to the United States or other countries where providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

Essential functionality

  • Keeping users logged in and maintaining session state (Countist App)

  • Security and fraud prevention

  • Remembering preferences (for example: theme settings)

Analytics

  • Understanding how visitors use the sites and app (GA4)

Marketing measurement (may use)

  • Measuring attribution and conversions for LinkedIn (and potentially Google Ads in the future)

Your choices

  • You can control cookies through browser settings.

  • Where required, we provide consent controls to accept or reject certain categories of cookies and tracking.

11. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The Services are not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we discover such data, we will delete it.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. For significant changes:
